Kashmir Stay was founded in 2025 with a simple mission: to make it easier for tourists to find trustworthy, real travel businesses across Jammu & Kashmir. As travelers ourselves, we understand the challenge of finding reliable hotels, resorts, and travel agencies in unfamiliar destinations.

Kashmir, often called "Paradise on Earth," attracts millions of visitors every year. However, the abundance of options — hotels, houseboats, travel agencies, tour operators — can be overwhelming. Which businesses are legitimate? Which ones are genuinely trustworthy? Which offer quality services at fair prices?

Kashmir Stay solves this problem by providing a centralized, easy-to-browse directory of verified businesses across Kashmir. Every listing on our platform represents a real business operating in Kashmir. We do not require government tourism registration to list a business — our verification standard is that a business is real, trusted, and genuinely operating, whether or not it also happens to be government registered. Where government registration or licensing does exist, we note it on the listing as an extra signal of credibility, but it is not the basis of our verification.

What We Do

1. We List Real, Trusted Businesses

Every business listed on Kashmir Stay goes through a verification process to confirm they are real, operating, and trustworthy. This is our core standard — government tourism registration is not a requirement to be listed. We accept and verify all genuine businesses, whether or not they hold formal government registration. Where available, we do check for:

• Hotels & Resorts: Registration with J&K Tourism, valid trade licenses (where the business holds them)
• Houseboats: Houseboat Association membership, Dal Lake Authority permits (where applicable)
• Travel Agencies: Ministry of Tourism registration, GST registration (where applicable)
• Tour Operators: IATO/TAAI membership (where applicable)

Alongside any government documentation, we independently confirm that a business is real by verifying its physical location, active contact details, and genuine operations in Kashmir. This helps tourists identify legitimate, trustworthy businesses — government-registered or not — and avoid scams, fake listings, or shell operators.

2. We Provide Detailed Business Profiles

Each business listing on Kashmir Stay includes:

• Business name, type, and location
• Contact information (phone, email, website)
• Services offered
• Photos and gallery
• Customer reviews and ratings (submitted by real tourists)
• Business operating hours and seasonal availability

These profiles help tourists make informed decisions based on services offered, location, reviews, and pricing (where shared by the business).

3. We Enable Direct Communication

Kashmir Stay provides direct contact options — phone numbers, WhatsApp, email, and website links — so tourists can communicate directly with businesses. All inquiries, bookings, negotiations, and payments happen directly between the tourist and the business.

We do NOT act as an intermediary. We do not take commissions, booking fees, or service charges from tourists. Our revenue comes from business listings and premium advertising placements, not from tourist transactions.

What We Do NOT Do

Kashmir Stay is purely an informational platform. We list businesses and provide contact details. Once you contact a business, all interactions, agreements, and transactions are your responsibility.

Our Verification Process

To maintain trust and quality, we verify every business before listing them on Kashmir Stay. Our standard is that a business must be real, trusted, and genuinely operating — government registration is checked and noted where it exists, but it is not required to be listed. Here's how we verify:

Step 1: Physical Location Confirmation

We verify that the business operates at the stated address in Kashmir and is not a fake or shell entity.

Step 2: Contact Verification

We confirm that the phone numbers, email addresses, and websites listed are active and owned by the business.

Step 3: Trust & Authenticity Check

We look at how long the business has operated, its reputation, and any available references or documentation the owner provides to confirm it is a genuine, trustworthy operation.

Step 4: Government Registration Check (Where Available)

For businesses that hold registration with J&K Tourism, GST, or other relevant authorities, we cross-check and note this on their listing as an additional trust signal. This step is not mandatory for listing — many real, trusted local businesses in Kashmir operate without formal tourism-department registration, and we welcome them on the platform too.

Step 5: Ongoing Monitoring

If a business receives multiple negative reviews, complaints, or is flagged by tourists, we investigate and may suspend or remove the listing.

However, verification does NOT guarantee service quality. A verified business is one we've confirmed is real and trustworthy, but this does not mean their services will meet your expectations. Always read reviews, ask questions, and clarify terms before booking.

How Kashmir Stay Works

For Tourists (You):

1. Browse Listings: Search for hotels, resorts, travel agencies, or houseboats by location, type, or category
2. Read Reviews: Check ratings and reviews from other tourists
3. Contact Directly: Call, WhatsApp, email, or visit the business website
4. Book Services: Negotiate pricing, finalize bookings, and make payments directly with the business
5. Leave a Review: After your trip, share your experience to help other travelers

For Businesses:

1. Create a Listing: Hotels, travel agencies, and other tourism businesses can create a free profile on Kashmir Stay
2. Get Verified: Submit business documents for verification
3. Reach Tourists: Be discovered by thousands of tourists searching for services in Kashmir
4. Manage Reviews: Respond to customer reviews and build reputation

• Review Moderation: We remove fake reviews (both overly positive and maliciously negative)
• Business Compliance: If a business loses its license, closes down, or engages in illegal activities, we remove their listing immediately
• Tourist Feedback: We encourage tourists to report issues, scams, or poor service experiences so we can investigate

If you encounter a problem with a listed business, please report it to us immediately. While we cannot resolve disputes or issue refunds, we will investigate and take action against businesses violating our terms.

• Respect Local Culture: Kashmir has deep religious and cultural traditions. Dress modestly, respect local customs, and ask permission before photographing people.
